Labor Day is now in the rearview mirror, and while we can ditch the fashion rules and continue to wear white, the holiday does feel like the "official" transition point to start switching out our summer wardrobes for new fall pieces. While I truly believe that the basis of a functional wardrobe and personal style mastery is a closet in which 70% of your items can be worn nearly year-round in some capacity, it's fun to pepper in a few new buys as the seasons change to keep your creativity ignited and spark a little excitement when getting dressed.
Here are my FIVE FOR FALL: the five fall pieces that will keep you on trend while ALSO expanding your wardrobe versatility as the leaves change color and we break out the layers. These all hit autumn trends squarely- vests, long blazers, and mules are all incredibly "on trend" right now, if dressing to trends is a priority for you. But my recommendations are also classic enough that if you invest in these, they can live in your closet for years!
* I'd be a terrible business owner if I didn't pause to mention: the best place to start as you prep your closet for a new season is a basic seasonal review- for my advice on that, see my post where I cover that more in depth!

**While I am shamelessly self-promoting, the best place to start ANY seasonal wardrobe assessment is to ensure you've got all items from the LGD Essential Wardrobe checklist. Truly, this is a great resource to ensure that your foundational basics are covered, and to guarantee versatility of any the seasonal pieces that I'm about to recommend you filter in.
With no further promos to push, here are the five must-haves to boost your fall wardrobe. These were selected not only for their fit in the fall trend landscape, but also for their versatility (how many different outfits they can play in). You can find these pieces to fit ANY body type or size, and each of these pieces has such a variety out in the retail space right now that you can find one to fit ANY personal style. Meaning: whether you are boho-chic or modern preppy, there is a long blazer with your name on it just waiting for you to embrace it!
A long, patterned blazer: fitted in the body, but loose enough to layer with a thin blouse/sweater if needed.
Wide leg pant: slightly cropped, just above the ankle.
Classic white button up shirt: find the length that flatters your shape the best. Keep it classic: don't go big with crazy details or trends here. Basic is best with this piece!
Sweater vest: just slightly loose, hitting at or just below your hips.
Mules: choose your own adventure here! Go with a classic Birkenstock, any heel height, add some texture with leather or studded details.

These pieces work together to form outfits, certainly- but they are truly meant to mix in with your pre-existing core wardrobe pieces to multiply your fall outfitting options and give you variety that will inspire you all season long. I'll be posting more options in these categories all September long- so scoot over to my Instagram page, and see the "Five for Fall" saved highlight to review all the recommendations I've made, with links to shop!
I make the recommendations assuming that you've got your core denim figured out. If you need help with that....head on over to my "Services" page, and let's book a free 15-minute consultation to figure that out!
